I like the idea of dance as a part of culture and mainstream media rather than just a "sport". I like designing because I get to be a little part of this culture and place my stamp on it.
2. If you were an animal what would you be?
I would be like a liger but made out of monkey and horse. That way I could hang from trees and jump really high, but also have really great hair and soft skin. 3. What is your inspiration for your designs?
It comes directly from my lifestyle. I always try to live a peaceful life. I try to be courageous, determined and fearless. I want to wear clothes that remind me to be a better human, and not just a better dancer.
4. What is the last song you downloaded?
Little Victories- Matt Nathanson 5. What is the last song that you wish you didn't download?
Anything on "that's what I call music".
6. Who is the Funniest dancer that you know?
My labelmate Chelsie Hightower, she never takes anything too seriously and I love that.
7. What's on your nightstand?
Water, whatever book I am reading, my journal, a small painting called "evolution of a goddess" that I got in Santa Fe and a picture of my dog Hobo and Me playing.
8. If you were not a dancer/choreographer what would you be doing right now?
Most likely hating my life. Dance to me is my air. Nothing else matters.
9. Funniest thing that happened to you while dancing.
During the year end recital my senior year my halter top came down during my duet with my guy partner in the middle of a lift. I flashed most of my hometown. Also one time during being a Rockette, I had to do extra work and be one of the animals in those huge heads during the nutcracker scene. I couldn't see and I ended up doing all of the choreography facing upstage instead of to the audience and they had to send out a stage manager to point me in the right direction! 10. Who would you love to see wearing one of your S&B signature pieces?
There are of course my dance idols people like Janet Jackson, Paula Abdul and Madonna, who made music and music videos that made me want to become a dancer. I get alot of happiness though from seeing young dancers, and people, relate and want to wear my stuff. Seeing dancers that I admire rocking my stuff on tv shows and in their lives is such an honor and seeing kids rock my stuff to class and saving up to buy even one item means just as much. I am just so blown away by the support and love I receive everyday!
